Synopsis

Dallae Story is a non-verbal performance written and directed by JO, Hyun-san. It depicts the disaster of war, the importance of family, daily life, and peace through an innocent young child's eyes, in a fantasy-like fairy tale that people across generations and borders can enjoy.

It is a work that exemplifies the effective utilization of diverse mediums, including puppets, objects, theatrical movements, traditional Korean dance and music, shadow theatre, projection, and more. Above all, it invites the viewer to experience a new theatrical world through the delicate movements of the marionette, more delicate than a real human.

Creator / artist

DIRECTOR: Jo Hyun-san
Jo has made a career of exploring the unlimited range of theatrical expression of puppetry and the infinite potential of puppets and objects. His work is centered on puppets and the utilization of objects, images, shadows, and movement. He is devoted to interdisciplinary artistic exchange and experimentation to create more unique and creative experiences for the audience.

COMPOSER: Chung Jai-hwan
Chung works primarily in composing in the Korean film industry. His first work with Artstage SAN was Dallae's Story, and since then he has composed the music for the main productions of Artstage SAN, such as His Day, Romeo and Juliet and Sangja (Boxes).
