BORDERLINEDATEOct.7th(Mon) 19:00-21:00VENUESeoul Namsan GukakdangGENREMusic(Korean music, World Music) ※ This program is cooperated by PAMS and Journey to Korean Music. SYNOPSIS Music 'exists' or 'doesn't exist' through 'moments.' On the border of existence, music is regarded as 'existing' only when it communicates and breathes with the audience. Our music expresses such processes and moments of verifying existence. In an attempt to present musical colors and images that are completely different from those of our existing works, we are willing to go beyond our musical limits by diversifying techniques and developing new ones. COMPLEMENTDATEOct.10th(Thur) 15:00 ~ 16:20VENUEDaehakro Arts Theater Small HallGENREDance(Contemporary dance) SYNOPSIS This work explores the fulfillment of the camera as an apparatus that captures and controls its subject. In the process, if the point of view(camera) is reduced, the unpredictabilities of 3 dimensions are extended on the contrary, and the possibilities on other sides infinitely increases. This is to experience increase in thoughts and imagination from the audience as initial elements disappear and the repeated transformations gradually strengthen. Movements are deconstructed and transformed through the eye of the camera, and the camera recomposes the choreography in various ways with its pan, zoom and focus. Though the gaze of the camera continues to try and control and choreograph the movement, in places where the gaze cannot reach there becomes the inevitable ‘gap.’ Among these ‘gaps’ new offerings discovered will cause uncertainties through the audience. And as this process layer; addition, deletion, distortion, transformation and more will occur; and movements will transform endlessly. Utilizing the gap between the two different media-video and performance-that are with different spatial and time structure, this piece talks about the unpredictability derived from the difference between two dimension and the three dimension and its other sides. This work expands and adds on the experimentation of spatial expansion and the ‘gap’ where perception cannot reach to explore new possibilities. MULJILDATEOct.7th(Mon) 21:00-22:00VENUENamsangol Hanok VillageGENREMultidisciplinary(Street art) SYNOPSIS Haenyeo (lit. sea women) or female divers of Jeju Island, Korea dive into the sea to gather various shellfish. The Korean word ‘muljil’ refers to their diving ctivities. It is understood that when diving into the deep water, each haenyeo endures a critical moment of breathlessness at least twice. Only those who are etermined to risk their lives can overcome such brief moments of crisis. Haenyeo explain that they dive into the water to face death and then come out alive every day. The crossroads of life and death that haenyeo encounter when diving certainly exist in our daily lives. For one reason or another, people come face to face with death. I hope to examine how my contemporaries stumble upon death and then escape from it. Although separated like islands, we are all immersed in the same sea. Nobody can choose the conditions of life themselves. We owe much to those who endure the agony and hatred present in the world. SOK-DO(VELOCITY)DATEOct.9th(Wed) 16:00-17:00VENUEYES24 StageGENREDance(Contemporary dance) ※ This program is cooperated by PAMS and 2019 Daehakro Performing Arts & Tourism Festival. SYNOPSIS Every moment, we make interpretations of various motions and translate (or mistranslate) the meaning of words. Here is one possible reason: VELOCITY. People fear velocity when it's high, get bored when it’s neither high nor low, and are complacent when it's low?we are going to express three different possibilities of 'velocity' with our movements. In this work, with a nice tune of the Ajaeng (a seven-stringed instrument used in traditional Korean court music), Modern Table shows a 'dynamic curve' in its movements, which is its distinctive feature. Those movements constitute music of the body created from contacts and interactions with the air. They are very rhythmical, and the dynamics generated by the variation of this rhythm gives the audience some intuition of velocity. The connection of those movements is intriguing and self-inclusive. You can look forward to this work which decisively goes against the stream.
