Synopsis	Offending the Audience, the first play written by Austrian playwright Peter Handke when he was just 25, was an immediate sensation that propelled him to international fame. In this play, there is no storyline, character development, or dramatic incident. Instead, four actors simply engage in an exploration of theater and language directly with the audience. This unconventional approach can be unnerving and unsettling, especially in the final segment, where profanity is liberally used. Recognizing the challenges of maintaining the audience’s attention throughout the play’s lecture-style format, Theater Company 79 implemented significant changes when they brought the play to Korea in 1979. The director experimented with linguistic forms, wordplay, sarcasm, disruptions in word spacing, and imitated people using specific languages. The most radical deconstructive method was the “play within a play” format. Approximately 10 days before the premiere, a preview performance was held for journalists and critics. However, the director had to proceed with the event as if it were a rehearsal because the actors had not memorized their lines. The response was explosive, and this rehearsal format became a permanent part of the play. Due to its unique nature and themes about theater, Offending the Audience inspired many audience members to enter the world of theater.

Synopsis	Woman at Point Zero is an opera by LOD music theatre inspired by the novel by Egyptian writer and feminist Nawal El Saadawi. A multimedia opera that broke away from the already existing opera genre, reborn in a new creative way, premiered in Festival d’Aix en Provence(2022), one of the largest opera festival in France. While many women around the world are questioning patriarchal systems, the operatic universe must also confront the abuses of power inherent in its own structure and reinvent itself. The questions of, ‘what is woman?’, ‘what does it mean to be freed?’ were reflected from the creation and production process of this work. The creative work brought together women from countries with heterogeneous situations, between the Middle East, Europe and South Africa. This diversity testifies above all of the universality of the struggle and the strength of solidarity. Like a tapestry of female voices, far from traditional patterns, the opera takes on a plural form in the image of the creators: several visions come together in this production. Multimedia which wishes to reactivate the power of opera and make it the voice of a new wave of feminism without borders.

Synopsis	"LET’S GO FIX!" A malfunctioning spaceship crash-lands in Ilsan Lake Park. “Help me!” An alien aboard the spaceship is seeking help from children and citizens. The audience comes together to repair the spaceship using wood, nails, hammers, and paint, and they also create drawings to give as gifts to the alien. Children who wish to befriend the alien can wear costumes and have fun playing with the extraterrestrial visitor. As a sign of his appreciation, the alien performs a joyful ceremony. This work combines installations, interactive experiences, performances, and exhibitions.

Synopsis	"Contemporary circus by Korea's top diabolo performer, 'The Flutter of Wings'" The fluttering diabolo, resembling butterfly wings, will captivate your heart. A boy, sitting vacantly in the grass as if he has lost something, gazes skyward. Just as he turns away to leave, a butterfly appears. With a smile he can't quite explain, the boy catches the butterfly using a net he made from threads spun from the cocoon on a branch. His initially cautious touch becomes more intense, as if he and the butterfly are ultimately merging. Yet, this moment of euphoria is fleeting, for farewells often come without warning. The boy decides to release the butterfly. Will the butterfly simply drift away from the boy?

It captures the moments of nostalgia felt when remembering the past, the moment of enjoyment experienced in the present, and the moments filled with anticipation when imagining the future. As the person I am today, I recreate a moment from the past and envision future moments through my present self, portraying a journey of finding happiness amidst the many moments of life.

Synopsis	“Stand by!” Actors and a small audience work together to build stone towers on the empty stage. As the "empty space" becomes filled with these stone towers, the actors and the audience stop building when they hear the "stand by" signal, and then begin to stack columns in the center of the empty space. Gradually, the columns rise to a height of 10 meters, transforming the empty space into a new environment. The sight of the rising columns presents the audience with an unrealistic moment, and the audience will witness the transformation of the empty space caused by the column structures.

Synopsis	This performance is an object play and an allegory that takes place when two humorous characters deliver a huge amount of packages. Knights, which takes place while delivering packages, contains a sociological narrative about the fundamental structure and desires of life between consumption desires and labor in modern society, and raises questions about the major consumption culture of modern society. In the time and space of the street, the audience directly participates in the work as a consumer by adding an unrealistic circus element to the daily life of the parcel delivery. It is a lonely and cheerful comic object play that looks at the contemporary times together through the work and faces us beyond consumption.

Synopsis	A dizzying reality. If you can't avoid it, enjoy it! The Earth we inhabit and our lives continue to turn endlessly. We spin the wheel placed before us without even realizing whether we are the ones turning or if the wheel is turning on its own, constantly in motion. It seems like a miniature version of life’s infinite cycles. Those who wish to escape this seemingly burdensome, turning wheel of life find themselves unable to break free, not knowing whether they are caught up in the inertia or in their lingering attachments, and so they continue to spin. “Dizzy!” Dizzying situations, which they want to stop but cannot, carry on and on. They decide not to deny the dizzying reality, but to fully commit to and confront it. This inescapable, maddening reality is reflected in the image of a child joyfully playing on a spinning carousel in a playground.

Synopsis	"A documentary circus observing a person named 'Jeong-hee' before being a ‘mother’" On a small remote island even farther south than Haenam, Korea's southernmost village, and less than a decade after the end of the Korean War, today’s circus began. The performance explores the circus of one person's life. It depicts the life story of a person marked by 'volition' and 'determination,' even amidst life's harsh twists and turns.

Synopsis	In response to various questions about the troubles of life, the philosopher Nietzsche said, "To those who seek only comfort, happiness will not come, and nothing is as beautiful as living dangerously." The process of overcoming the present, filled with anxiety and anguish, creates a life that approaches us with beauty. The title of the performance, "Übermensch," is derived from the concept of the "Übermensch" described in Nietzsche's philosophy, or one who lives in the way that Nietzsche described. Through this concept, the work aims to question what path contemporary individuals should take. This performance also seeks to explore the positive implications of the term "Übermensch," which refers to a person who strives to overcome themselves by harnessing their own willpower. It aims to apply this concept to the modern individual, re-examining the strength of human willpower and the genuine freedom it can achieve.

Synopsis	The story of a man who persistently walks, climbs, and falls—traversing "The Road to Heaven" along the path to the sky. "The Road to Heaven" is a performance inspired by the process of relentlessly practicing on a pole until attaining a state of freedom. Through the image of a man endlessly climbing up and falling down the pole, the audience is invited to reflect on their own lives, drawing parallels with the repetitive nature of daily existence. The man uses a long pole to pull a cart while singing and repeatedly climbing up and down. At a certain point, he raises the pole high into the sky and begins to slowly ascend. Meanwhile, the song he sang upon his entrance resounds once more, this time through the voice of an unseen singer. This work, created through the collaboration of "Chinese Pole" and "Hankook Yeonhee," a Korean traditional performing arts group, is a contemporary circus piece. Audiences will enjoy a new artistic experience that transcends their previous indirect encounters with traditional circus performances.

Synopsis	1) Pangut (Collaborative Shamanic Ritual) This program combines the artistically refined percussion quartet known as samullori with the vibrant collaborative shamanic ritual of pangut, which incorporates drumming, dancing, and singing (pungmul). This unique combination infuses the performance with a lively energy that can only be felt in the moment. The harmonious integration of song, music, and dance creates a dynamic experience that captivates the audience, leaving them unable to look away for even a moment. It showcases the remarkable skills, formations, and vigorous movements of the performers, who express their artistry through dance and mime from head to toe. 2) Beonanori (Disc Spinning) This performance is one of the acts from namsadangnori (an itinerant troupe performance) and transcends the simple act of spinning a wheel or disc. It features a disc spinner who not only demonstrates their impressive spinning skills but also engages the audience with witty banter and various tricks, creating a mesmerizing blend of entertainment and artistry. 3) Here Comes the Lion Dance Crew! This interlude-style program creatively reimagines traditional lion dances, like the Bongsan Mask Dance and Bukcheong Lion Dance, with a modern twist and sensibility. Featuring an entertaining lion show performed by playful dancers, the performance also includes a segment called “warding off the evil spirit and welcoming auspiciousness,” which aims to alleviate the audience’s worries and anxieties. The program encourages audience participation, allowing them to transform into lions themselves, further enhancing the enjoyment and creating a vibrant and engaging experience.
